Growing Instructions
Sowing Time: Parsnips need a long growing season and are best sown directly outdoors from mid-spring to early summer (typically March to May). The soil needs to have warmed up a bit for good germination.

- Choose a sunny spot with deep, well-drained soil that is free from stones and freshly added manure (which can cause forking). Parsnips prefer a fine, loose soil.
- Rake the soil to a fine tilth.
- Create drills about 1.5-2cm (½-¾ inch) deep and 30cm (12 inches) apart.
- Parsnip seeds can be a bit erratic with germination. Sow 2-3 seeds together every 10-15cm (4-6 inches) along the drill.
- Gently cover the seeds with fine soil and water lightly with a fine-rose watering can.
