🌿 Growing & Care Guide
1. Sow Directly (Best Mar–Jul)
-
Fill your decorative or biodegradable pot with compost.
-
Sow seeds thinly, about 1cm deep and 2–3cm apart.
-
Water gently and place in a sunny, sheltered spot.
2. Germination
-
Carrots usually germinate in 10–20 days.
-
Keep the compost moist during this time.
3. Thinning
-
When seedlings are about 5cm tall, thin them out to 5cm apart.
-
This gives each carrot room to grow straight and strong.
4. Feeding
-
Mix fish, blood & bone feed into the top layer of soil every 4 weeks.
-
Avoid high-nitrogen feeds, which can cause forked roots.
5. Growing On
-
Keep your carrots weed-free and water during dry spells.
-
Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
6. Harvesting
-
Harvest when roots are finger-sized and bright orange (around 10–12 weeks).
-
Gently pull or loosen with a fork. Rinse and enjoy fresh!
